Discovery Worship is a ministry of Discovery Community Church, a non-denominational Christian church located in the Southeast metro area of the Twin Cities. Wayne Allen, Senior Pastor at Discovery says that "we are striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible, where there's relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest friendships, consistent prayer, and compassionate care for those who are in need."
Discovery Worship is lead by Rob Brock, Worship Pastor at Discovery, and by a team of dedicated people serving the church faithfully each week. This blog is intended to help you get to know the worship team at Discovery, and provide you with resources and encouragement to incorporate worship into your daily life.
A Unique History
Discovery Community Church was established in May 2004 as two previously independent churches came together to serve and honor the Lord. Both Park Church of God and Park Christian Church were well established churches in St. Paul Park, Minnesota, with long histories of ministry in the community. Sensing God's leading toward a new chapter in the life of each congregation, the leaders of both churches began meeting together in 2003 to explore how they might work more closely together.
In May of 2003, Park Christian Church and Park Church of God began meeting together for worship on Sunday mornings as the leadership continued to meet, pray, and study the Bible together. After worshiping together for a year, both churches held congregational meetings on May 4, 2004 and voted unanimously to disband their individual congregations and form one new church, Discovery Community Church.
Discovery Community Church remains an independent Christian Church with ties to both the Church of God (Anderson) denomination and the fellowship of independent Christian Churches and Churches of Christ. Discovery supports both Anderson University and Crossroads College (formerly Minnesota Bible College) and works with Bible camps from both fellowships (Camp Arrowhead and Pine Haven Christian Assembly).
